Tired Dear? Put Down the Coffee and Reach for This

I think we can all agree that sleep is the best thing a human being can do besides drink wine and make out. BUT – most of us do very little sleeping and a lot of wine drinking and making out leaving us real tired pretty much immediately after waking up. However, if you are getting decent sleep and are still tired at 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p & 5p there may be a secret lurking in your hot bod.

There are a range of reasons why you could be dozing off behind your Christian Dior shades all day, such as excessive stress, poor absorption problems,  heavy drinking, hormonal imbalance, etc.,  but more often then not, the culprit is a lack of the lovely little vitamin B12. Yep – that guy.

B12 is the superstar nutrient for our red blood cells, nerve function, and DNA to do its thing in our bodies. Basically it’s brain, body and blood food. Yummy.

Since it’s a water-soluble vitamin (breaks down in the agua in your hot bod), the body is unable to store extensive amounts of B12. So you need to chow down on foods that have it regularly. Blah blah blah same old news right – who the hell can ever eat enough or right enough to get all the nutrients we need. I get it – hell I’m with ya! The good news is that B12 is actually one of the easiest things to restore and replace.

All you need is a daily dose of the little nugget in a fast dissolving tablet. My doctor has me take the Trader Joe’s under the tongue supplement:


And most doctors recommend between 2,000 mcg – 4,000 mcg daily either with or without food. I mean how easy is that? But I know you’re wondering:

  • Not into Vitamins? You can start shoveling the following foods into your pretty mouth no problem:
    • Clams, Beef, Turkey, Oysters, Chicken, Crab, Salmon, Eggs, Trout, Herring and Liver (haha good luck).
  • For vegetarians like me:
    • Cheese, Eggs, Whey Powder, Milk, Yogurt, Fortified Soy products (Silken Tofu) and Yeast Extract Spreads (Marmite) – yikes.
  • For vegans (aspiring or otherwise):
    • Tough shit, get the goddamn supplement.

So stop trying to shoot up Redbull or having that 4th cup of Starbucks and try giving your body what it needs! It will do wonders I swear.
